Spring Term 2 “United We Stand”

Yoga means union. To be in the state of yoga means to be connected – to our higher Self, to the Universe, to others.

Now, more than ever, we need that connection, to feel part of a community. This term, let’s focus on finding some calm and balance amongst the chaos. I offer you the opportunity to feel grounded when perhaps everything around you feels less so; the chance to gently boost your immune system by finding some peace and reducing stress, by feeling part of a Sangha, and by practising Asana said to aid detox and the flow of lymph around the body.

When the roots are deep, there is no need to fear the storm. Come home to yourself.

Term dates: 17, 24, 31 March, 7, 28 April and 5 May 2020

“Friday Nights – Staying Yin is The New Going Out!” – 2020 dates now confirmed!

Come and join me for the perfect way to melt into your weekend!  What better way to end the week than to allow yourself time to be still, and to yield slowly to the support of the floor?

Are you exhausted by the end of the week, looking for a way to connect compassionately with yourself? Do you want to develop your meditative practice and find a way to be still with yourself?

Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets and applies moderate stress to the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes, allowing the body to softly yield to the floor, whilst we work on turning our attention inwards and accept the emotions which arise as we find stillness.

The practice of Yin is an opportunity for communicating in a sweeter and more compassionate way with ourselves. Within the safety and softness of the poses we are better able to send and receive our heart’s messages, to fortify the parts of us that need attention and to encourage a greater understanding of ourselves in this world.

Friday night dates: 17 January, 28 February, 3 April, 15 May, 3 July, 4 September, 16 October, 27 November 2020
